Statement:
Death of Dallas Hayden

I am saddened to hear of the death of Dallas Hayden, the wife of former Governor-General and Labor leader, Bill Hayden.

Dallas dedicated much of her life to the service of her country, supporting Bill in his public roles for more than four decades and making her own mark.

She was a role model of dignity and grace, even when times were stressful. Dallas was the centre of Bill's world and Australia is a stronger nation for their devoted partnership.

My sincere condolences to the Hayden family and Dallas’s many friends.
